KALYAN: Upset over cops fining his son for not carrying a driving licence, a former BJP corporator, Shrikhar Chaudhary, allegedly misbehaved with on-duty policemen in Dombivli.Following the incident, the policemen have registered a case against both father and son and begun a probe into the matter. Chaudhary’s wife is currently a corporator from BJP.
Police said the incident happened on Friday night when a police team was deployed on routine nakabandi. On-duty cops stopped Shrikhar’s son Puneet and asked him to show his driving licence. Police said when they found he did not have one, they charged him with a fine, after which Puneet called his father.
An investigator said Chowdhary, upon arriving at the spot, began to yell at the policemen, saying he was the local corporator and also threatened them. During the argument, Shrikhar even caught hold of a traffic warden, Ramjan Tadvi, who was recording the incident on his phone.
Several attempts made by the reporter to contact Chaudhary failed.
